Because of a recurrence of severe diverticulitis, I underwent an emergency colectomy in October 2020. This was performed by Mr Gupta, who came to see me before the procedure and explained why I needed it and what was involved, including the fact that I would have to have a stoma. He was very reassuring and I felt I was in safe hands at a very anxious time. Since then I have had regular follow up outpatient appointments with him. I have had a few post op issues and he has always taken the time to listen to my concerns and treat them seriously, and has promptly arranged for procedures/treatment to deal with them. I have chosen not to have a reversal operation for the stoma but, if I had, I would have no hesitation in having it performed by Mr Gupta. He has been unfailingly professional, approachable and kind.

I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September 2020 by Mr Gupta, following a colonoscopy and I am so glad I chose him to take care of me. He helped me receive top quality oncology treatment and did a fantastic job with both my surgeries - the first being a lower anterior resection and ileostomy, the second being reversal of the ileostomy. I made quick and excellent recovery from both surgeries, which the nurses credited to Mr Gupta's excellence. He has consistently shown a very caring attitude and a real determination to get me well again. 10 months after diagnosis I now have 'no evidence of disease' - the treatment has literally saved my life, and I am so grateful to Mr Gupta and his team.
